Saddleback Church started in 1980 when Pastor Rick Warren and his wife Kay dreamed of planning a church to attract people who didn’t like church. Beginning in southern California, Saddleback Church now has more than a dozen California locations as well as four international locations in places as diverse as Berlin, Germany and Hong Kong, China. Saddleback Church hopes to help people find a deliberate “purpose driven” path for their life based on the five purposes God has for them. At Saddleback Church, “God is at work in the world and he wants you to join him.”
