Juliette Gordon Low founded the Girl Scouts in 1912 as an organization to help prepare girls to enter the world with “courage, confidence, and character.” The Girl Scouts hope to prepare every girl with the skills they will need for a lifetime of leadership. The Scouts’ program uses time-tested, research-back programs to help girls lead and succeed in their own lives and community. Girl Scout troops are inclusive and all-female environments where girls can explore new things and skills in a safe environment. Per their mission statement, “Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.
